They keep building them closer and closer to our area and one day it will be our regular shopping destination instead of a rare treat. I look forward to this day.
It's a Wegman's. Huge, and packed to the brim with diverse, high quality food. Great cuts of meat, fresh seafood, and a good food court. The buffet trays are actually rotated frequently, so it's always fresh. As someone who lives in the Midwest where there are no Wegmans', this was a very cool experience.
I will definitely be back to visit the grocery store - just not the burger bar!
As a grocery store this would be 5 stars hands down. Unfortunately, I also tried there burgers at the burger bar... I ordered an "mushroom burger" and got a burger with no mushrooms!
What else can be said about Wegmans? They have excellent staff, service, and selection. They also have very good quality and consistency control. Each store is similar enough that you know that you are in for a quality shopping experience.

Great selection, reasonable prices, clean store. The checkout process can be a little cumbersome - the cashier is expected to scan and bag all items. This seems to actually add to the total time spent checking out, though I imagine this is consistent throughout all locations. The secret is to size up the cashiers as you're looking for a checkout lane and see who seems to be moving at a reasonable pace. With this technique, I had a fantastic experience checking out with Ivan - he added a touch of humor and set a record time for my excessively large grocery haul. I left with a smile on my face. I'll be keeping an eye out for him next time I'm there!
I have been going 30 minutes out of my way weekly for their wide variety of apples. Yesterday they had less of a selection but there was clear signage for "snap Dragon, Sweet Tango. I quickly bagged 6 of each. THEY TURNED OUT TO BE GALA AND FUJI both of which we do not like and can get anywhere. Yes I should have checked the individual stickers but all were incorrect as was the signage.
As far as the grocery store; they have a wide variety of foods including fresh prepared food. Well the prices are high - the service and quality of food makes up for it.
